We focus on shopping cart safety We provide warranty and non-warranty work for shopping carts and accessories manufactured by Unarco, Rehrig International, Technibilt , Premier Carts Inc., Americana, Tote Cart, United Steel and Wire Company Inc., Precision Wire Products Inc., Cari-All Inc. and others.  We service hand baskets, child carts, retail baskets, shopping totes, infant and baby seats/carts, cart corrals and folding carts.  It is important to maintain, repair and clean shopping carts so that customers are happy and safe.

We supply customized shopping cart maintenance programs to a variety of multi-site retailers and operators from the following industries: consumer electronics, office supplies, home appliance, grocery store, supermarket, department store, food, hard and soft goods, general merchandise, variety stores or "dollar stores", big box stores, drug stores and pharmacies, home improvement, hotel and motel chains, wholesale clubs and membership warehouses, toys, hardware, and discount department stores.

We also provide a wide range of on-site, top-quality facilities services chain-wide to multi-site retail stores and regional retailers across the 48 continental United States. Our maintenance solutions and competitive rates help our customers centralize their facility activity so that multiple store chains reduce expense and operate more efficiently.

We plan and schedule shopping cart preventative maintenance and inspections at regular intervals to reduce the amount of money our customers spend on cart replacement.  We understand the intricacies of maintaining shopping cart and rolling stock equipment fleets.  As a result, aligning frames and fixing wobbling and broken shopping cart wheels and casters is an integral component of our service programs. Because carts are extensively used by store customers, malfunctioning wheels is a common problem.  Loose wheels can cause unsafe conditions for shoppers, children, and employees by veering in the wrong direction or tipping over. Our technicians lubricate noisy wheels and casters to make sure they are working properly. They inspect and examine cart wheels while checking for rust, tread chips, tread separation, wheel bearing damage and excessive dirt. Using stocked parts, they replace damaged, worn out, and rusted wheels and casters with new ones.

As a member of The Professional Retail Store Maintenance Association (PRSM), we focus on providing timely, regularly scheduled maintenance to retail store operators on shopping and utility carts, compactors, scissor lifts, rolling ladders, pallet jacks and other backroom equipment.  We work closely with store management to ensure their shopping carts and backroom equipment are working properly. Our trained field specialists work on location to provide regularly scheduled expert maintenance on new, used, and reconditioned shopping carts made from plastic and wire, as well as shopping cart containment and retention/prevention systems.

We have decades of experience in fixing, repairing, maintaining, cleaning and servicing retail rolling stock equipment and shopping carts. Our technicians are trained by experts who also have extensive field experience. The majority of our national field staff has at least 7 years of tenure with the company. They are trained to communicate with the store manager to confirm an arrival and check-in time.  Our staff is very sensitive to the need for unobtrusive maintenance services and may arrive when the store is closed so that customers and employees are not interrupted or inconvenienced. When at retail stores that are open 24 hours a day, they strive to work behind the store or in areas away from customers.

Our repair crews take inventory of the shopping carts at every visit, checking the interior and exterior of the store, to make sure all are accounted for and serviced.  They enter this data into their laptop computers as soon as they finish service, so that reports can be generated to the customer.  Through their routine actions and scheduled maintenance, they restore and return to functionality as many carts as possible.

The French Company® is one of the most experienced and largest on-site equipment maintenance companies in North America, servicing shopping carts, rolling stock and material handling equipment. Our reputation is based on our high levels of customer service, the quality of work our technicians perform, and detailed customer reporting.

Our technicians are mechanical and come prepared with all the tools and parts required to service shopping carts and rolling stock equipment.  They record replacement parts used during service. If an inordinate amount of shopping carts are damaged, out of order or have the same type of equipment failure, mechanical problem or broken parts, they prepare cost reduction and/or warranty reports and take pictures to support their findings.

Our shopping cart repairmen talk with the store managers when a service assignment is completed.  The store manager reviews the service work report to see what repair and maintenance work was performed, and how many replacement wheels, casters, handles, seat flaps, child safety belts and other shopping cart replacement parts were used during the process. The service work report also includes the model number, brand or manufacturer of the carts as well as an inventory of the entire fleet on site and serviced.  Our service technician discusses excessive problems with the store manager who is also encouraged to inspect and assess our work.  The assessment information is entered into a digital report on the technician's laptop computer for later reference by our management staff and the customer's management personnel.  The work report is uploaded to our proprietary online picture and data management software application called eView®.

Each of our full service programs are individually designed for retail store operators.

We take a tactical approach to meet our customers' needs and business goals in support of their maintenance management plans.  Equipment maintenance, repair and replacement part data is collected at each store location by our service technicians using laptop computers and digital cameras. This data is used to create Cost Reduction Reports (CCRs) which are used by our customers to detect opportunities for enterprise-wide cost savings and repairs completed under warranty.  We schedule our service visits monthly, quarterly, semi-annually or yearly to meet the specific frequencies requested by our retail store clients.

Our grocery and supermarket clients consider The French Company® to be experts in the facilities maintenance solutions industry. They understand the importance of maintaining shopping carts that are smooth-rolling, safe and clean so that their customers can effectively transport merchandise from store shelves, to the check-out counter, and through the parking lot.

The most common warranty and non-warranty retail equipment work we perform for grocery store and supermarket retailers is to fix, repair, assess, lubricate, inspect, maintain and clean their shopping carts. We replace, repair and install grocery cart wheels, shopping cart handles, seat flaps, bumpers, accessories, safety and seat belts, locks and keys, child safety harnesses, grocery cart axles, swivel wheels and casters for plastic, and wire shopping carts whether new or used.  Additional services we provide include pressure cleaning of grocery store and supermarket sidewalks.

Our FacilityConnect® division provides unique facility solutions and maintenance services for commercial retail organizations and their maintenance contractors, vendors, and service providers. Our skilled specialists perform observations and notations regarding physical assets, walk through inspections, photography, reporting, measuring, and documentation of building and landscape deficiencies that may require correction. We provide before and after evaluations of work performed by facility contractors, retail and facility service vendors using data and pictures.

Our specialists perform facility equipment and building condition assessments, audits, property inspections, equipment and building surveys, service vendor performance audits, and physical equipment / fixed asset tagging and tracking.  Using numbered asset tags with bar codes to facilitate fixed asset management and tracking, we help our muti-store operators identify opportunities for ongoing financial and operational enhancements across their entire portfolio of properties and locations.

We collect data that is used by facility managers and directors, franchise business managers, operations managers and company executives for strategic planning and budgeting. Retail store managers often use the reports provided by FacilityConnect® in combination with a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to manage physical assets across departments, locations, facilities and business units. By managing facility assets, retail store operators can improve utilization and performance, reduce capital and asset-related operating costs, extend asset life and subsequently improve ROA (return on assets).

Our customized services aid managers of multi-store retail chains to manage and maximize the value of their physical assets and retail equipment. Our facility assessment reports, surveys, audits, and cost reduction reports (CCRs) are used by our clients to perform Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) tasks such as design, construction, commissioning, operations, maintenance and decommissioning/replacement of retail store equipment and facility assets.

By combining the retail equipment services provided by The French Company® and the facility solutions provided by our FacilityConnect® division, multi-store retail chains and franchise businesses are moving away from a reactive business model to new management systems that utilize whole life planning, life cycle costing, planned and proactive maintenance, and other industry leading practices.
